Figure, table and section ledger

Editorial contribution type: Architecture & representation (primary).

Layout extraction, not a required paper template. Counts are distinct caption labels; a multi-panel figure counts once. Section spans are estimated from heading positions, including floats and whitespace. Method and limitations.

Extraction notes: No attached appendix boundary detected. Zero means no recognized caption, not independently verified absence.

Section-by-section lengths and source pages

The title/abstract/front matter precede the first numbered heading. A span ends at the next detected top-level heading, not at the last sentence; end-page whitespace is included. References and statements are listed separately. These are not measurements of text-only or artwork area.

Separate source files—excluded from canonical-PDF totals

A separate author version may repeat main text and references. Whole-file lengths and counts are not extra appendix material and are never added to the canonical PDF totals. Read the study's source scope for which sections received substantive reading versus layout inspection.

    Additional source 1

Separate PDF (or ZIP containing it): whole-file layout of 17 physical pages; 22 detected figures and 12 tables. These may include overlapping main-text material.

    Argument and organization

    1. Representation bottleneck to architecture

Use VAE detail loss to motivate direct pixel generation, then present dual-level modeling and pixel modulation.

    2. Multiple tasks and implementation choices

Separate editing preservation, class-conditional synthesis and text-to-image results before ablations.

    Problem, claim and contribution

The opening connects a representation choice to a concrete failure—small-detail corruption from autoencoder reconstruction—rather than arguing that single-stage design is automatically better.

    Argument and section order

The architecture, pixel block, text-conditioning adaptation and objective each receive their own subsection before training and task-specific evaluation.

    Sections 3.1–3.4, PDF pp. 3–6 · Main paper · Additional source 2

    Figures, captions and visual explanation

The architecture pairs a compact two-path overview with an expanded pixel-block inset; the nearby incremental ablation uses A–C labels that correspond to the modulation schematic.

    Tables, comparisons and evidence

The text-to-image comparison separates resolutions and reports throughput beside quality. The ablation explicitly retains an out-of-memory row, making feasibility part of the evidence.

    Appendix and reproducibility

A dedicated failed-attempts section discusses conditioning, token compression and optimization choices. Detailed compute conventions and limitations precede labeled uncurated sample galleries.

    Supplement Sections 5, 7–9, PDF pp. 6–9; Figures 11–22, pp. 15–17 · Main paper · Additional source 2

    Clarity and writing conventions

Implementation paragraphs specify guidance settings, training stages and sample counts, so generative quality numbers can be interpreted in their sampling regime.

What to reuse—and what not to infer

Transferable lesson: For a new backbone, combine a two-scale architecture diagram, incremental ablation including infeasible settings, throughput–quality comparisons and a candid record of failed design choices.

Boundary: Pixel-space generation does not remove every pretrained dependency: representation alignment uses frozen DINOv2 features. Throughput comparisons also require the stated hardware and resolution.

Apply this lesson using the argument and evidence worksheet.

    Main text
Manuscript-wide writing scan of PDF pp. 1–10: framing, argument sequence, section organization, figure/table captions, evaluation interpretation and limitations; reference sections identified. This is a writing-focused scan, not an exhaustive technical proof or reproduction audit. Main PDF pages 3 and 6 were rendered and visually inspected.
    Appendix / supplement
Writing-focused scan of the separate supplementary PDF, pp. 1–17, including its organization, captions, protocol/evidence detail and limitation material where present; proofs and code listings were inspected for exposition, not independently verified or executed. Supplement Sections 5, 7–9, PDF pp. 6–9; Figures 11–22, pp. 15–17. Linked video/audio demonstrations and non-PDF archive contents were not assessed.
