Figure, table and section ledger

Editorial contribution type: Domain-grounded methods & physical systems (primary).

Layout extraction, not a required paper template. Counts are distinct caption labels; a multi-panel figure counts once. Section spans are estimated from heading positions, including floats and whitespace. Method and limitations.

Section-by-section lengths and source pages

The title/abstract/front matter precede the first numbered heading. A span ends at the next detected top-level heading, not at the last sentence; end-page whitespace is included. References and statements are listed separately. These are not measurements of text-only or artwork area.

Argument and organization

  1. Problem and contribution

Frames active sensing as anticipating informative future locations, while stating that sensor observations are queried from offline high-fidelity data rather than live physical interaction.

  2. Argument sequence

The POMDP names observations, latent states, actions and rewards before separating the world model, policy and RL algorithm; experimental analyses return to these components.

  3. Evidence and verification

World-model shift, reward horizon and heuristic policies receive separate controls; initialization variability is measured over three sampled sensor placements, not three independently trained models.

Argument and section order

Figures, captions and visual explanation

The graphical models reuse encoder/dynamics/decoder colors across prediction and decision panels. Neighboring result tables distinguish forward rollout from reconstruction with new observations, and retain per-dataset unit multipliers.

Tables, comparisons and evidence

World-model shift, reward horizon and heuristic policies receive separate controls; initialization variability is measured over three sampled sensor placements, not three independently trained models.

Appendix and reproducibility

Architecture and training settings precede sensitivity tests; extended figures show rollout degradation and how observation budgets affect active sensing.

Clarity and writing conventions

The conclusion names surrogate-model fidelity and policy overhead as limitations, though some result prose is stronger than individual table cells justify.

What to reuse—and what not to infer

Transferable lesson: Give distinct protocols distinct result tables, especially when initial-observation prediction and continually observed reconstruction use similar error notation.

Boundary: Archived real-world SST data do not demonstrate deployed physical sensors. Preserve non-winning cells and do not relabel placement variability as training-seed uncertainty.

Apply this lesson using the argument and evidence worksheet.
